Why Your Spin View Icon Isn't Showing Up
You converted the photo, the metadata looked right, and the glasses icon still didn't appear. Here are the five things that actually break it — in order of how often they're the real cause.
Reason 1
You downloaded the photo instead of sharing it directly
This is the single most common reason. The file on your device can have perfect metadata and still lose it in Instagram's own Story composer — picking a photo from Recents routes it through your phone's gallery app first, and some gallery apps quietly re-encode the image on that import step, stripping the very tags Spin View checks for. Tap Share in POVLY instead of Download — it sends the file to Instagram Stories directly, with nothing in between.
Reason 2
You posted to Feed instead of a Story
Spin View is a Stories-only format. A photo with flawless metadata posted to your main Feed will never show the glasses icon — there's nowhere for it to appear. Always test with a new Story, not a Feed post.
Reason 3
The photo isn't at the right dimensions
Instagram checks the pixel dimensions alongside the metadata. Genuine Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 stills are exactly 3024 × 4032, portrait. A photo cropped or resized to something else — even close — can fail the check. POVLY's default profile resamples to this exact geometry automatically; if you used a manual crop first, that's worth re-checking.
Reason 4
The photo passed through a chat app first
WhatsApp, Telegram, and Messenger all recompress images on send, and recompression strips EXIF metadata as a side effect. If you sent the converted photo to yourself through any chat app to move it between devices, the copy that arrives has already lost its metadata. Convert and share on the same device, in the same browser tab.
Reason 5
Your Instagram app is out of date
Spin View is a relatively new client-side feature. An older build of Instagram simply doesn't have the code path that looks for the glasses signature, no matter how correct your file is. Update the app from the App Store or Google Play and try again.
